About

Nigerian fashion deserves better than a DM thread.

There are thousands of brands here doing genuinely original work, selling through Instagram comments and bank transfers. We're building the shop they should have had all along.

Why we're building it

If you have bought clothes on Instagram in Nigeria you know the routine. You find something you like. You ask the price in the comments. You are told to check DM. You send a message and wait. You send money to an account number and hope. There is no receipt, no order, and no way back if the parcel never turns up.

None of that is the brands' fault. They are running a business out of a messaging app because nothing better exists for them. The tools they do get are built for somewhere else — priced in dollars, shipped from abroad, and indifferent to how anybody here actually buys.

Nuveta is the boring middle piece nobody built: a real storefront, a real cart, real prices with sizes and colours, an order you can point at, and delivery we take responsibility for. Brands get a shop. Buyers get a receipt.

How we're building it

Three things we've decided on purpose.

Supply before launch

We are not opening to shoppers until enough brands are on with real catalogues. A marketplace with nothing to buy wastes everyone's time, so we have no launch date — we have a number of brands.

We own delivery

It would be cheaper to leave shipping to the brands and take a cut anyway. We'd rather be the ones responsible when a parcel is late.

Nothing we can't back

We only say what the product actually does today. Anything on the way is labelled as such, and we would rather look less impressive than overpromise.
